Here is a report of the recent horseshoe tournaments I have played in.
On March 20th I played in a tournament down in Sebring, FL. There were 8 players in the group I was in. The group was handicapped since the averages went from 80% (me) to a misplaced player of 24%. Here are my games.

Harrison 17-36 26 40 65.0
I won 5 games and lost 2. I had 188 ringers out of 240 shoes for 78.3%. This isn't bad for me, but unfortunately I had a rather poor last game against Mr. Harrison. Despite my finish I managed to win the group due to winning the match against the player I was tied with in wins and losses.
On March 23rd I went to Brooksville, FL and there were 7 players in the group. Again the group was handicapped even though the group had 5 players over a 69% entering average.

On April 6th I went to a tournament at the Villages of Lady Lake. I contacted several of the top players in the state and we had a great top group with entering averages over 67%. Because we had a very competitive group we played 35 point scratch games.

My next horseshoe tournaments are the mixed doubles and 40 foot state doubles in Clearwater next week (April 18-19) when I will be paired with Jim Adcox and Byron Jarrett. That weekend (April 21-22) I will be in New Melle, MO for the Six Pac Invitational horseshoe tournament. There will be 16 players of at least 67% including defending champion (and current world champ) Alan Francis at this 'major' horseshoe tournament.
Mark Seibold is currently staying with me for a few days, so we are both getting some good practice in.
