Today Is January 22, So Far So Good

Break-time is over for me! After the Christmas break I stayed home for a few weeks to "get some stuff done". One of the main things I wanted to get accomplished was getting ready for tax time! For about two weeks every flat surface in my house was covered with receipts. I was about eight months behind on my Quicken. Every year I make the same resolution…to stay caught up. So far, I have failed miserably. Big surprise I made the same resolution this year. Today is January 22, so far so good.

I seem to remember sitting on a plane last year at this time, writing the same wrap up of the first half. Keeping up with 'Paige's Tales' is another thing I have been failing miserably at! I think my husband is rubbing off on me. I used to be so organized and on top of things…now not so much. Today is January 22, so far so good. *smile*

The first half of the season went pretty well. Walter Ray broke the great Earl Anthony's title record at the first tournament of the season. Unfortunately, for me, it was in Japan and I didn't go with him this year. Several people called me before the show and asked me if I wanted him to do it - or to wait until he was in the United States. It was a no-brainer for me. I wanted him to DO IT!! Truth be told I was so tired of hearing about it, that it was worth not being there to get it over with. Of course, I would have liked to have been there, but to have that pressure over was more important.

Over the Christmas break we went on a cruise with my folks. We had a great time! I didn't want to come back (as usual). I just love cruises. Don't care where they go, just that they do! It was nice not to have all the Christmas stuff to deal with. A stop along the wayI shopped for a few friends, a few kids and my grandparents, but that was pretty much it. Amongst ourselves we agreed not to buy a bunch of stuff nobody needed and spend the cash on the cruise. I didn't miss all the mess at the house either. Usually we are in such a rush because we don't get home till almost the holiday and leave shortly after. No decorations, no dinner, no tree mess…it was actually kind of great! I think we will cancel Christmas again next year. Christmas in Belize sounds pretty good to me!

Walter Ray headed out to the west coast where I knew he would have the support of his family, so I didn't feel too guilty. It wasn't like he would be all alone. The only bad part was I missed seeing some people that I would have liked to have had chance to catch up with. I got more than a few annoyed, "Why the heck aren't you here?" calls. Funny how those people were often talking about the crummy weather out west. Hmmmm…it was mostly sunny and 70s in Florida. I can't tell you how much I hate the cold weather. I really can't tolerate it.

So after three weeks of the second half we sure can't complain about Walter Ray's bowling. With shows in Reno and So. California he has made two out of three. In California I didn't think any right-handers were going to make, so I was really proud of him! I would sure like to know what he did to tick-off Patrick Allen though…two games over 240…two losers! Patrick has been bowling great and I really like him, so at least he isn't losing to someone I can't stand. If Walter Ray could make a show PA wasn't on, he might have a chance. We will just have to keep our fingers crossed. We really can't complain, though sometimes we still do. Titles are great, shows pay the mortgage.

Many of you have heard that I am shopping for a new motorhome, that's true. What isn't true is all of the crap that I have been hearing about what I am looking for. No it is not going to be a million dollar motorhome. No it isn't going to be two-stories. No we didn't hire a driver because it is 50ft long and you have to have a special license to drive it! Geez people, get a life!

On that note, people ask me all the time why Walter Ray and I don't read and post on the PBA message boards. I used to when it first started and would still like to. However, I found myself getting so annoyed by the complete idiots who don't know anything but just keep opening their mouths, that I just couldn't do it anymore. It's a shame since there was a lot of good discussions and information that came from there. Now the only time I ever know about anything that is written there is when someone tells me! I just laugh. It is particularly amusing when it is something so irrelevant that I can't imagine why anyone would waste their time or bandwith. For example, after one of the shows I was told that someone said I had been spending too much time at "fake-n-bake". People I live in Florida, I go outside. I can honestly say I have never been to "fake-n-bake" in my life. Not once. Not ever. And my question would be, why would anyone care about the state of my tan? What does that have to do with bowling? Whatever. Anyway that's why I don't waste my time reading the message boards.

Well, I am going to try to do a better job keeping up with writing this swing. Today is January 22, so far so good. We'll all see how it goes. Thanks to all of you who keep writing me and asking for stories.

The Captain says we are landing in Las Vegas and to turn off all of our "electronic devices", so I will sign off for now. Hopefully, you will be hearing from me soon.

Paige
