Southern Lanes

Farmville, VA

This week we used pattern B1 (the pattern designation was changed to A,B,C,D,E from 1,2,3,4,5)(The volume designation was changed to 1,2,3 from A,B,C). The tournament was held on brand new pro anvilane. This surface has very little friction so the oil pump was on its lowest setting. Pattern B1 produces a ratio of less than 2 to 1 at 15 feet, a 3 to 1 at 25 feet and about a 2.5 to 1 at 42 feet.

Please note that I was only able to take 3 sets of tapes this week because I was low on tape. Match play analysis was based on visual observations.

Blue Line = Tape reading at 15 feet
Yellow Line = Tape reading at 25 feet
Red Line = Tape reading at 41 feet

A squad got 10 into the finals and it is clear to see why when you look at the graphs. Most right handers were around C20 at 15 feet, around R14 at 25 feet and around R10 at 41 feet. A nice hold area was developed just to the left of this area as the ball traveled down the lane.

B squad only got 6 into the finals because the hold area never developed. As you can see by the graphs, there is clear pattern depletion spread throughout the pattern with no hold area ever developing.

In match play,(visual observations) the majority of right handers were between L10 and L15 at 15 feet, between R10 and R15 at 25 feet and around R12 at 41 feet. The left handers were between L15 and L20 at 15 feet, around L13 at 25 feet and around L10 at 41 feet.
