Scoring sweeper will be posted soon

Here is my report of the sweeper at the ABC Masters in Reno on January 14th, 2003.

I started the 3 game sweeper playing around 7 on the left lane with a shiny particle ball (#3797) and up 4 with a reactive ball (#1532) on the right lane. The National Bowling Stadium has quite a few lanes which slope off to the right near the channel and will make those lanes play quite a bit tighter. The right lane I was on was one of those. The lanes were oiled using a shorter pattern than most of those we use on tour so I was able to throw the ball with the speed which I like to. My first few frames were pretty shaky as I missed a 7 pin and the 2-5-8 in the first 3 frames. I finally managed a double only to leave a solid 7 pin. I threw a bad shot in the 9th frame leaving the 6-10 and doubled in the 10th to shoot 191.

Not a great game, but decent. It usually only takes a little over a 200 average to cash in these little tournaments. There were about 170 bowlers and the top 34 would get money. Plus there were brackets (side action) and I did put myself in a few, not many since I didn't have that much cash with me. The 2nd pair was more like the left lane, except not hooking quite as much and I went to the reactive ball playing around 6. After making the adjustment right when I started with a 2 pin, I strung 4 strikes in a row before throwing another horrible shot leaving the 1-2-8-10. Fortunately I made a good shot and spared it. I then doubled before leaving a 4 pin to shoot 234. A much better game which put me into the cash number.

I must have thrown a bad first shot as I left the 2-8. I made the spare and moved right on the next shots to strike and yank the ball for a 3-6-9-10 which I missed. After leaving a 4 pin I struck out for a nice 248. At the time of writing this I don't know where I finished, but I would guess around 6th to 8th place. It was a nice little practice session for the tournament. Hopefully the pins fall as well in the Masters as they did in this practice session.

I had 21 strikes out of 34 shots. I don't think I had any strikes while missing the pocket, but I did trip a couple of 4 pins. I missed the pocket 7 times.
My strike % on pocket shots was 21 out of 27 pocket shots or 78%.
I had 3 opens. All 3 were missed spares (7, 2-5-8, 3-6-9-10). I did pick up the 1-2-8-10 washout.
