Scoring All round
Here is the report of the 3rd day of the PBA Days Inn Open at the Don Carter Lanes in Dallas, TX.

In the round of 16 match I bowled against Paul Fleming. I watched him finish his round of 32 match against Mika Koivuniemi. They had a great finish with Paul throwing great shots to win the 6th game 238-237 by striking out in the 10th and also striking out first to win the 7th game 279-268.

I started the match using a reactive ball (#2156) playing around 11 on the left lane and 10 on the right while Paul was playing around 14 on the left and 8 on the right. I was surprised that he was playing so far right on the right lane, but he projected the ball well and hit the pocket great. We both missed the pocket twice, but I had 3 taps while Paul didn't have any. Paul did leave splits on his 2 missed pocket shots which resulted in opens, but he won 226-214.

The 2nd game was kind of more of the same as we both missed the pocket once. Paul won the 2nd game 234-216 as he had 3 taps and I had 4 taps. In the 3rd game it looked like Paul might win the game as I could only manage a double through the first 8 frames while Paul had 2 doubles with better count. I finally had my first turkey of the match as I struck out in the 9th and 10th frame to shoot 225. Paul needed 2 strikes in the 10th frame to win the game and the match and flushed the 2 shots, but left a solid 8 pin on his 2nd shot in the 10th to loose with a 218.

The 4th game was going Paul's way as he had a turkey and a double while I was only able to have an opening double. In the 9th frame needing a strike to put some pressure on Paul I went right through the nose for a 4-6-7-9-10 split which I missed leaving the 4 pin. Paul only needed to get a mark in one of his last 2 frames and picked up the solid 10 in the 9th and the 3-6-10 in the 10th to win 221-197. I bowled a pretty good match, but Paul bowled better. We both had trouble with carry as he was left 3 solid 8's and a couple of solid 9's. I left quite a few solid 10's, a solid 8 and a solid 9. I ended up moving quite a bit left on the left lane getting into 16 on the last game and played the right lane at 13 while Paul was playing a board or 2 left of that on each lane.

In the round of 16 match I had 24 strikes out of 44 shots. I had no strikes when I missed the pocket. I missed the pocket 5 times. My strike % on pocket shots was 24 out of 39 pocket shots or 62%.
I had 1 open a 4-6-7-9-10 split. Fortunately I left 3-6-10's when I missed the pocket the other times and made those spares.

In the round of 16 match, Paul Fleming had 27 strikes out of 44 shots. I don't think he had any strikes when he missed the pocket. He missed the pocket 5 times.
His strike % on pocket shots was 27 out of 39 pocket shots or 69%.
He had 2 opens, both were splits (4-6-7, 3-4-6-7-10).

It was a good tournament, but I didn't quite get the breaks I needed. I also could have thrown a few better shots.
