November 27, 2004 Report on the Pepsi Open at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kansas. We bowled on the 'C' pattern this week. This pattern plays mostly from the middle of the lanes, but I have played it on an outside angle. My round of 64 match was against local Kelly Bonta. Kelly bowled a very good match while I had a little trouble getting strikes. He came out of the gate with an 8 bagger and easily won the 1st game 269-234. In game 2 and 3 things didn't get any better for me and the right lane started to hook as Kelly won 227-202 and 226-200. I ended up changing balls to a shiny ball and moving 3 boards left of the where I was playing the left lane. Game 4 was looking better as I started with a 4 bagger, but left alternating 4 pins and 10 pins on the right lane before leaving another 4-9 in the 10th frame. Kelly had a large lead at this time and won the 4th game 251-215. I ended up missing the pocket one more time than Kelly, but my carry was rather poor and 3 pocket splits didn't help much. WRW vs Kelly Bonta Strike % = 56 (24 of 43) Pocket % = 84 (36 of 43) Pocket Strike % = 64 (23 of 36) I had 1 strike while missing the pocket, I went through the nose in the 6th frame of game 3 for a strike.
