round 2

Hi All, My neck was feeling much better due to the chiropractic services from Dr. James Johannes and therapist Thomas Dabrowski. I decided to again play the a bigger hook knowing that it would be a bit easier on my body and it seemed that most of the really big scores were coming from the big hook bowlers.

In the 1st game I started using a reactive ball around 12 at the arrows going out to about 2 or 3. I started pretty well again having a double and a 6 bagger for a 255. The next game I had a 6 bagger for a 246. Unfortunately the next game the pins were stubborn as I could only manage a turkey around my taps for a 219. The next game I started with a 5 bagger before leaving a solid 10 and then a 6 bagger for a really nice 279. Unfortunately the next pair hooked quite a bit more and after going high and getting a double I went high again for a 4-6-7 split.

I changed to a shiny ball and moved right and got a quick double followed by a 10 pin and a 4 pin. Another double and another 10 pin gave me a 212. In the 6th game I started with a 6-7-10 split in which I just missed the 6 pin. A double followed and a couple of taps and then another high shot. I decided to move inside with the other ball (reactive) and finished with a turkey after a couple of 10 pins to shoot 202.

These were not the kinds of scores that I needed. I figured that I needed to shoot at least 730 or 740 to make the cut. Playing around 15 at the arrows I threw the ball pretty well the last 3 games while never really missing the pocket only to shoot 229, 236, and 237. I don't know why I wasn't able to get more strikes. I hit the pocket very well, but the pins just didn't want to cooperate. I finished at +575 for the 18 games, but it took a score of +600 to make the top 32. I guess I am 'saving' myself for next weeks PBA World championships.

I had 63 strikes in 101 shots. (No strikes when I missed the pocket)
I missed the pocket 7 times.
My strike % on pocket hits was 63 of 94 or 67%.
I had 2 opens. Both were splits (4-6-7 & 6-7-10). Scores were very high as many scoring records were broken. On to next week and defend my title a bit earlier than I had planned.
