Qualifying Round 2

In the 2nd round of qualifying I started playing around 15 at the arrows.
Unfortunately for me I threw the ball terrible and ended up moving to the gutter and doubled in the 10th for a 201. In the next game my first shot was light and left the 2-4-5-8-10! The one lane had the 5 offset allowing that to happen. I did convert the 'split' though. I managed to finish the game with a 6 bagger to shoot 237.

In the first 2 games one lane hooked a few more boards than the other one. The first game the right lane hooked more and the 2nd game the left lane hooked more. I was kind of hoping that some of the other lanes would be more like the 'hooking' lanes as I kind of liked the reaction on those lanes. Unfortunately most of the lanes were on the tight side.

In the 3rd game I left a 2-4-10 in the 2nd frame which I missed. I managed a couple of doubles and finished with a 201.

The 4th game I started with a gutter ball which I spared. The 2nd frame I left another 2-4-10 which I missed. I decided to move to around 11 and play there. But again I wasn't able to get the ball to the pocket and moved back outside and finished with a 6 bagger for a 224 after I slowed down a bit.

I started the 5th game with a turkey, but followed with a 4-6-7 split. I then alternated strikes and spares except in the 9th frame when I had another 4-6-7 split to shoot 191.

In the 6th game I had 2 doubles and no opens for a 214.

The 7th game was on a pair which hooked a bit more and I started with a 3-6-10 which I chopped. Not what I needed. I had a turkey in the middle of the game and had no other opens for a 205.

In the 8th game I had a nice reaction with the lanes hooking just a bit. Unfortunately I had my worst carry of the round as I left 2 solid 4's and 2 solid 10's. I also had a shot which I got a pinch right and never hooked leaving the 1-2-4-10 which I missed. I left a 3-10 split in 10th frame which I spared to shoot 200.

Going into the last game I knew that I needed a big game as I was about 50 pins short of the number. The pair was tight and I left the 2-4-5-7 in the first frame and chopped the 2-4-7 off the 5 pin. I left a 2-4-5 in the 2nd frame which I converted. I then threw a turkey, but went a bit high in the 6th. I figured that after the 2nd frame I couldn't afford any more misses. I struck out after leaving two 10 pins in the 8th and 9th frames for a 217. I really didn't throw the ball very well. I just couldn't get comfortable inside and the reaction outside just wasn't quite good enough for me to score with.

I had 52 strikes in 103 shots. 1 strike went I missed the pocket.
I missed the pocket 38 times.
My strike % on pocket hits was 51 of 65 or 78%.
I had 8 opens. 5 were splits (4-10, two 2-4-10, and two 4-6-7), a 3-6-10, a washout - 1-2-4-10, and the 2-4-5-7. I did pick up the 2-4-5-8-10 (bucket with the 10) and the one 3-10 I left. I wasn't very happy with the way I bowled. I feel like I was pretty lucky with what I did. I missed the pocket way to many times to expect to score very well. Hopefully I will throw the ball much better next week. What is amazing is that I only missed the finals (top 32) by 30 pins.
