I wasn't sure how the lanes were going to break down in match play. I was a little bit scared they might get a bit wet/dry which is what usually happens during match play. In my first match against Mike DeVaney I started with a shiny ball as the right lane was hooking quite bit more than I expected. Unfortunately the left lane was more like I expected and I left a washout in the 2nd frame. I started the match playing up 2 on the left lane and 3 on the right. I changed to a dull ball on the left lane only to go high for a split and my 2nd open in 4 frames. In the 7th frame I started to use the dull ball on the right lane also. Meanwhile Mike was having trouble hitting the pocket also, but managed a turkey with the help of a tripped 2 and cross over strike. I threw a turkey in the last half of the game, but left a 4 pin in the 9th and 10th frame to give Mike a chance to win the game which he did. I bowled much better the rest of the match, but when Mike bowled a 289 in game 3 I thought I was in real trouble. However he threw a few bad shots and I was able to hit the pocket a lot and get plenty of strikes to win 4 games to 2.
