I had a little trouble at the start of the match with Chris Barnes as I needed to play a board left (3) of where I thought I needed to play. As Chris was playing just left of me, the lanes 'broke down' a fair amount and I had to keep moving left. By the end of the match I was playing 7 on the left lane and 5 on the right lane. Both Chris and I kept having the ball hook all of sudden at different times in the match. Fortunately for me, Chris had more trouble with hitting the pocket than I did. Chris had a chance to strike out in the 10th frame in game one to beat me, but didn't. In game 2 I had a chance to tie the game by striking out, but left a solid 9 to lose that game. In game 4 I started with the first 4 strikes when my thumb grip dropped in the thumb hole. Since I didn't want to hold up play for too long while that ball was being repaired I changed balls only to go high as the replacement ball hooked a bit more than I expected. I managed a 4 bagger when the other ball was returned to help me with game 3. Game 4 was really close until Chris left back to back splits. In the 5th game after starting with a 4 bagger, my thumb which already had a split on the thumbprint ripped apart. I needed to patch it up so that I wouldn't get blood in my thumb hole. I struck and then went high for a split. Chris had a couple of bad shots in the 4th and 5th frames. He then left a solid 9 in the 6th followed by a solid 4-7-9 in the 8th frame which gave me a big lead in the game. It is always really nice to make the TV finals, but after over a year this one was really nice, especially since I felt like I was bowling so well lately.
